Description: In this scene from the fourth Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy book, So Long and Thanks For All the Fish, Arthur Dent suddenly finds that his home planet Earth has NOT been demolished by the Vogons to make way for a new hyperspace bypass. While hitchhing a ride back to his house in Cottington, he is introduced to Fenny, the beautiful comatose half-sister of the driver who has so graciously given Arthur a ride. After Arthur shaves off his 5-year-long beard, takes a nice hot bath, launders his grubby dressing gown and treats himself to a good hot cup of tea and the first good night's sleep he's had in years, he sets off in a seemingly vain search for the strange girl Fenny, with whom he has fallen hopelessly in love. This was made with The Movies and episode 20 of the Quandary Phase of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy radio series from the BBC, starring the legendary Simon Jones as Arthur Dent, Jane Horrocks as Fenchurch, and William Franklin as The Book.
