Alsalam Alaikaum. this is a cool lecture, but the part of about the vanilla Extract was a Bit confusin. Ive been readin and Ive seen so many sites claimin that it IS haram! because of the Alcohol in it.Includin fatwa sites. so now i dont kno ..lol..

If the alcohol content is enough to intoxicate you, or is pure alcohol then it is haram. However, if it has tiny amounts of alcohol which cannot harm you then it is not haram because it cannot affect you in any way, eg medicine for example or perfume etc.

Some medicine, like the Sheikh was saying about Robitussin, have a lot of alcohol, like 25%, which most certainly can intoxicate. Those medicines are haram.

Well Robitussin is just one example, others have very tiny quantities (like the Sheikh mentioned in his video). Of course Robitussin is haram but other medicines are not.
