18.09.2007 - Baghdad, Iraq - At least 12 people were killed and 37 wounded today after Baghdad was hit by two parked car bombs and two roadside bombs, police said. A car bomb blew up in the centre of the Iraqi capital at 9.30am (6.30am BST) in a car park near the health ministry and the so-called Medical City complex of buildings, which includes several hospitals and a forensic institute. Seven people were killed and 23 wounded in that blast, a police officer said on condition of anonymity as he was not authorised to talk to the media. Seconds later, a mortar landed in the area as well, the officer said. About 11 cars were damaged in the explosions. Another parked car bomb went off near a police patrol in Palestine Street, eastern Baghdad, killing two civilians and wounding six others, the officer said. A roadside bomb targeting a police patrol in Baghdad's southeastern area of Zafaraniyah killed one policeman and injured two pedestrians, he added. Two more civilians were killed and six others injured when a roadside bomb went off around 9.30am next to a minibus travelling through Baghdad's eastern neighborhood of Baladiyat, the officer said.
