Description:

The Spider is a fantastic exercise to develop right hand alternate picking (cross picking). Really helps many aspects of right hand technique including string crossing and string skipping. Taught by Justin Sandercoe (Guitar Institute Instructor, Katie Melua Band). Big Thanks to Jedi Master for filming and editing :) Support notes can be found at www.justinguitar.com. Enjoy.

Correction: Dave Mustaine made the technique more famous, but certainly did not create it.

This was actually invented my Dave Mustaine. Kirk Hammet learned it from James Hetfield who learned it from Dave when he was in the band. Listen to "Wake up Dead." By Megadeth. And Mechanix by Megadeth.

this is possible with sweep too. there's no wasted effort. It's all about separating the sound in your left hand.
