this song and movie brought back so many memories of going to SE asia (thailand, laos, cambodia and vietnam)i never visited japan (at least not yet) but the bigger cites i visited, especially bangkok and ho chi minh city are quite overwhelming in a way that tokyo probably is. it is overwhelming and exciting and fascinating, yet as a westerner there is an inescapable detatchment that one feels. or at least i did while there but i still loved it all nonetheless

I live in New York and recently Listened to the Loveless album while walking through Times Square recently, I haven't been there for quite some time. It was overwhelming to say the least. Sofia Coppola visited Japan in the early 90's and I feel she was so fascinated by the culture and her experience that she vowed to portray her feelings during that time into a film. Because the scenery in a sense, is overwhelming. I bet MBV was def. in her CD player while roaming the streets of Tokyo...

This sounds more a mix between shoegaze and post-rock. I love this song and love the movie.

to learn to love this movie, you must (as a foreigner) feel a sense of nostalgia towards this movie. Something, some point in the film, should trigger off a fond memory, one that is most certainly unique to Japan (Tokyo). To all other people, that feeling doesn't come as openly.

Once again, a beautiful movie that I almost found tragic. The truth is people are either going to love it or hate it. It really depends on your style of analyzing and if you can create a world from nothing. Or better yet see that although not much is said, so much is happening within. I know it sounds odd. Great song it always affects me more after watching the film.
