Brilliant!!! A grown man just out-witted 11 teenagers!!! Brilliant! Impressive!!! Hire him right away! I applaud the support of such a great coach!

And equating trick play deception to some higher moral evil or the cause of problems with pro athletes is both irrational and dismissive of real problems. Beyondthepale would probably claim Pacman Jones didn't shoot up a nightclub because he's been told he's a star, pampered for years, and given so much money and so many assistants that he doesn't feel he has to worry about rules, but he did it because the Titans run too many surprise onside kicks. I applaud your reasoning.

Beyondthepale complains about a lack of creativity, but isn't a trick play the quintessence of creativity in sports though? Isn't deception in fact one of the most important aspects of sports (a point guard pump fakes to shake a defender, a pitcher has to deceive the batter)? If misleading and tricking was illegal in sports then you'd have to ban running backs from running to the weak side.

A perfect example of what is wrong with youth sports today. Such "coaches" who think such a play is appropriate teach kids that it is OK to mislead and trick, i.e. the coach is desperate to win and lacks the confidence and creativity and ability to teach kids fair play and execution. And Letterman calls it impressive. And we wonder why professional sports is in the condition that it is in today. And these coaches get paid to be such role models for children. Sick.

I say leave it alone. thats a great idea!! also, letterman needs to actually let the boys tell the story....He's talking more than they are even though its there story and tells it wrong at one point and they have to correct him. I think i'd prolly slap him across the face.
