Description: I overcome my fear of praising liberal politicians and prove that it's possible to agree about environmental concerns across party lines. In his original work, Small Is Beautiful (published in 1960), E. F. Schumacher asks, "How could we hope to bring pollution or population or the consumption of resources under control, if we cannot control ourselves and are not prepared to study the question of self-control?" Over 30 years later, Pearce writes that one of the seven life-giving virtues "is cooperation. We must work with each other, not against each other, in pursuit of a lasting justice and a sustainable future." |

fingerpies ::: Favorites You used the word "jerkface" which basically solidifies absolutely everything you said. Just kidding. I totally agree. I believe in protecting the environment 100%... I'm a little iffy on global warming... and Al Gore is basically a joke around these parts. But I'm trying. I mean, I'm glad someone is out there telling people about this and that he's creating a "fan base" for lack of a better word. 07-10-13 22:25:38 __________________________________________________
calvinjones ::: Favorites Nice to see someone looking outside ideologies. And, personally i wouldnt say that the whole blue team vs red team thing is any good to anyone. 07-10-13 13:46:20 __________________________________________________
whyismysntaken ::: Favorites Well, in theory it promotes competition, which should (but rarely does) encourage people to find the best stance on an issue. Really all competition seems to do now is make us hate each other. 07-10-13 13:51:09 __________________________________________________
calvinjones ::: Favorites I dont know anything, i just have views. The way i see it politics today is very much like sports, criticism of your own team when they make illigal moves is non-existent. If othes make the criticism then you may grudgingly accept it. If the other side breaks the rules, everyone boos, jeers, etc., 07-10-13 13:57:30 __________________________________________________
calvinjones ::: Favorites competition between ideas is healthy, actually essential, i dont think that two similar parties are enough...not sure what the solution is to that, altought it is only one of many problems in politics. 07-10-13 13:59:43 __________________________________________________
whyismysntaken ::: Favorites I think that's a pretty fair assessment. Except I think the teams boo and hiss if the other side does pretty much anything at all. 07-10-13 14:01:58 __________________________________________________
calvinjones ::: Favorites I have favourited a video that i would like a conservative view on. You might find it interesting, we will probably disagree on it but if you are interested, it is the bottom right one of my nine favourited videos. 07-10-13 14:15:53 __________________________________________________
whyismysntaken ::: Favorites Wow. Well, I watched it, but I'm still trying to digest everything. I'll let you know when I've figured out what she's saying (I'm not too familiar with the New Orleans political situation, so her references are a little obscure for me). 07-10-13 14:31:22 __________________________________________________
calvinjones ::: Favorites Ok, i just discovored Kliens work myself, although i have known about her for some time. If the Left has a better side it would be her. She's a long way from republican, but she is also a very rare find more generally, a very smart and eloquent journalist. Also, the first video of that series wont teach you anything but it is hillarious! Talk of Yak privatisation. Enough said? 07-10-13 14:44:48 __________________________________________________
Skaramine ::: Favorites I too am a balance between conservative and liberal thought and theories. It's good to see another level-headed person who makes a decision based on FACTS not party lines. God bless ya, beautiful. 07-10-13 01:14:38 __________________________________________________ |
